About Me
How did I become a Magician?
I never thought I would be a magician. I became involved in magic because my 7 year old son wanted a magic set for Christmas. I had to read the instructions, help him understand them and help him practice. Soon he was doing neighborhood shows. He found two magic clubs in Washington DC and we joined both (I had to join to take him). The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) Ring 50 and The Society of American Magicians (SAM) Assembly 23.
At age 15, Eric was invited to Las Vegas to be on a TV special called "Lance Burton's Young Magicians Showcase." My son really wanted to be a magician because of that experience. After following behind my son for 10 years, he challenged me to learn a magic trick. I learned a trick called the "Number Two Pencil". I was bitten by the magic bug. Although I still ran my Nationwide Insurance Agency full time, I found time for magic. I began to learn as much as possible while still assisting my son in his shows. Eventually, I began performing small tricks for my clients and I promoted my son's show to their children. I began doing shows for my clients who wanted magic for adults and my son did the kiddie shows. I began performing more and attending magic conventions. I retired from the insurance business but magic has stepped in to keep me busy.
I have won the IBM Ring 50 Dan Lacey Trophy as DC's Best magician two times. I am a Past President for both the IBM Ring 50 and The SAM 23 magic clubs. I am a member of the prestigious, invitations only, FFFF Close Up Magic Convention. I am currently an IBM Territorial Vice President for the Washington DC area and I serve on the IBM Executive Board.
